Travelling around Annecy
Getting to grips with travel round the meandering streets, but it is taking me a little while. That said getting lost isn’t a big deal, as it invariable means chancing upon a beautiful little square, which despite best possible efforts I will never be able to find again.
Some observations: The indicators on French cars don’t seem to work, but the horns certainly do!
Cyclists, probably due to a fitness smugness feel it is their divine right to go where they please, when they please, and mutter as they do it.
Pedestrian etiquette is non-existent, it is every man and woman for themselves, and head down and go for it.
This is never more apparent than on market day, and I recommend highly a visit to said market, then a quick escape down a little alley for a peaceful and well deserved drink.
Took a boat trip on the lake today, absolutely stunning, and some of the lakeside houses that we saw were out of this world. Fellow passengers were from many countries, but my partner and I were the only Brits, which is quite pleasant.
Further navigation and tales to relate tomorrow.
